About Chenxing
A visionary at the intersection of music, technology, and human interaction, Chenxing Ji is a Computer Music undergraduate student at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, blending advanced technical expertise with artistic expression. With a minor in Psychology and accolades such as the Peabody Dean’s List high honors and recipient of the Peabody Scholarship, Chenxing crafts immersive experiences that bridge sound, motion, and emotion.
Chenxing's work revolves around redefining musical storytelling through cutting-edge tools like AI, motion capture, and sensor technology. Notable projects include Morse Love’, an automated piano duet partner system translating hand position & gestures into Morse code-inspired compositions, and the Sensor Glove, a wearable interface that transforms finger movements into dynamic soundscapes and synchronized visuals. These innovations reflect Chenxing's passion for merging algorithmic precision with organic creativity.
Beyond solo projects, Chenxing thrives in collaborative and performative spaces. He has orchestrated experimental performances like Fuguang Experimental Concert, collaborating piano performance with live-processed sound and real-time visual effects, and designed surround-sound installations such as Migraine, built from everyday ambient noises. Their role as an Event Manager at Sphinx International Arts Education further highlights their ability to fuse technology with live art, curating multidimensional concerts with motion capture and interactive visuals.
Fluent in both Chinese and English, Chenxing brings a global perspective to his work, having collaborated with international organizations like the United Nations Italian UNESCO Office in Shanghai and optimized e-commerce audio for brands like Ningbo Aesthetic. Proficient in MaxMSP & Logic Pro, they continuously explore AI-driven music and algorithmic composition.
